1.1 Update: Better art, better gameplay!


Hello, everyone! It's been a while since you've heard from us as we're still in college and there's been a lot of homework and projects. But we haven't been idle in our own projects either. Our first game Protectors has finally got a major update!

After the release of our second game Valanthion (check it out here!), we wanted to submit one of our games to Game Prime Asia 2019. We decided we were going to submit Protectors, but we wanted to submit it in an even better state than when we first released it. We wanted to improve two parts of the game: the art and the gameplay.

Art

The first major change we did was the art. We asked our artist Nico who worked on Valanthion to remake a lot of the art. He didn't disappoint, check out some of our new and improved art! You can see additional screenshots and in-game footage on our home page.

Gameplay

We made two changes to the gameplay: we rebalanced the orange tree and added cooldown periods.

In Protectors 1.0.1, the orange tree was so overpowered that you could basically use only that tree and never ever get overwhelmed by the lumberjacks. You'd have hundreds to thousands of seeds and could never run out.  Not anymore!

Not only that, we also added cooldowns to the trees, so players can't spam-plant trees of the same type. But don't worry, you'll be able to see if it's on cooldown as there'll be a faint grey circle counting down the time until you can plant the tree again.

All those changes we did with the hope that Protectors will become a game that you can enjoy even better, have fun with, and present a challenge too! We really do hope you enjoy it.
