6/11/2019 - Release Window and Working on Ads

Hey, everyone! Welcome to our fifth devlog, in which I'm just going to talk about our release window and the ads that we're still working on.

Originally, we planned to release Pathfinders as a finished game at once, somewhere around mid-October (which was last month). But due to a lot of other things happening, the new semester starting, and not to mention that we vastly underestimated how long it would take to make our assets, we've decided to change things a bit. We've decided to release Pathfinders in three stages, each corresponding to an actual "Stage" in the game: Mesoamerican/Aztec (still can't decide what to actually call it), Egyptian, and Chinese. We're working towards a release of the first stage by early December and so far things are progressing quite along schedule.

As for the ads, in our last devlog we mentioned working on ads. Sadly, our ads still don't work. We're not strangers to using Unity (which is the engine we're using for this game), but we have never worked with any sort of monetisation before. One of our coders has been working on the ads but for some reason they just won't work. Fear not, we're not giving up and if the way we're using still doesn't work, we'll find some other way! So the last week, us coders have been focusing our efforts on getting the ads working.

There should be an ad right about here... (just for testing)

That's about it for this devlog! Unfortunately, we don't have anything else to share with you this week. We're entering mid-term exams, so our attention is sort of split. But we'll be sure to keep you updated through our devlogs (which is here) and also our social media pages. Follow them to keep updated! Thanks for reading :)
